The Yuanyang Rice Terraces cover a large area with various shapes and different altitudes. The most famous view you must not miss is in winter, the sky reflected in the wet terraces and this can turn all the terraces into magnificent blue.

 

 

 

O: Oil-paper Umbrella

The Oil-paper umbrella is famous in Xingyang Village of Tengchong, southwest China’s Yunnan Province with a history of more than one hundred years. It is a traditional Chinese handicraft made of oiled paper and bamboo frame with some paintings on the umbrella. Other than its utility, oil-paper umbrella is also indispensable in local traditional weddings.

 

 

 

M: Mountains

There are two mountains you must add to your itinerary when you visit Yunnan. One is the Meili Snow Mountains located in Shangri-La. It is a holy land of pilgrimage for Tibetan Buddhists, where you can admire the sunrise over the Snow Mountain. The other one is Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. You can enjoy different altitudes that give rise to changing landscapes with peaceful meadows giving way to snow-covered paths and glaciers during your hike.

A: Ancient Town

The Acient Town of Lijiang which has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Centre is well known among people. You can find houses combining elements of Han and Zang architecture and decoration in the arched gateways, and even courtyards and carved roof beams that are representative of the Naxi culture. Jianshui Ancient town in Kunming is less know, but Double Dragon Bridge and Tofu are the reasons you must visit this place. You will have the opportunity to learn to make tofu with a local that it’s the most authentic Naxi dish.

N: Nightlife

Nightlife in Yunnan is full of plentiful bars or night markets. The Ancient Town of Lijiang is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine with a spectacular night view where you can overlook the town. If you would love to do some shopping or grab various types of delicious food you can visit Starlight Night Market in Xishuangbanna.
