Top Off-season Travel Destinations
Maldives
Since most of the Europeans travel for their winter break, December to April marks the best or the high season for Maldives. However, it’s more than a destination you can visit anytime of the year regardless the season. If you wonder how, temperature wise, the weather of Maldives scarcely change. In fact, it is almost the same throughout the year. So the great news is there is no winter here and visiting during off-season would not only make a dent on your savings but also your travel time.
Interestingly, May to August boasts the low season for resorts where you can get a villa of your choice at exactly half price you would pay in the peak season. And also Flight rates have never been competitive during this period with an increasing number of budget airlines flying to male international airport.
Mauritius
This is another island paradise I prefer visiting in its low-season months (May to September). Although the island maintains a cool and dry season from May to December, it has a typical tropical climate with warm weather all year round.
December and January months are the busiest with most visitors. So are the rates in hotels unbeatable with packed tourists. Hence, its worth visiting here during the winter months, which are May through September. Yet still it may depend on what are you looking for, for example, the low season is usually dry so would be ideal for those who don’t like rain and heat because its not generally hot but warm and comfortable during the winter months.
Accommodation, activities and attractions are rather cheap with fair promotions. You can visit most popular places with less crowd as it’s the best time to taste the local culture and experience Mauritian life.
Bali, Indonesia
Bali has always been an enchanting destination among backpackers. With that said, it might have probably given you an idea that it is affordable! Well not for everyone! The green season, which falls on April to October, is not only expensive but also filled with swarms of tourists at major attractions. And that’s why it’s all about timing.
November to March, the island is back to being the paradise. You will be able to enjoy things more genuinely. Imagine experiencing non-existent traffic jam, buying flight tickets for half the price, fabulous accommodation at a fraction of the cost and not waiting for hours to get into the major sights especially without having to elbow other tourists for the perfect photo. No wonder you will fall in love with this paradise on earth on a deeper level while saving loads of money.
So, visiting at the wrong time of year can actually be the right time for you to have the best experience. By the way, there are plenty of things to do in each location during the down season, if you have no clue
