Let’s Go Flower Chasing in China
After a long winter with plenty of grays and browns, are you ready for some spring color? Whether you live in snowy northern China or sunny southern China or anywhere in between, spring means a renewal season and flower chasing in china! Let’s get to know where you can enjoy the flowers blooming!
Rape blossoms – Luo Ping County, Yunnan
Luoping County is about 240 kilometers east of Kunming, around 3.5 hours by car. Normally, here the flowers blossom after the Chinese New Year and before March. You can easily find a vast sea of golden rape flowers spread out everywhere over the hills and dales.
Jinji Peak owns several cone-shaped hills scattered among the golden fields while Screw Field is famous for its circle terraces. Apart from the amazing flowers, you can explore not only the Dragon Waterfall that has been included in the Chinese National Geography List but also the Duoyi River where you can enjoy drifting.
Cherry blossom – Pingba District, Yunnan
Thousands of cherry blossoms are blooming in Pingba District, Guizhou starting from March to April. Nearly 700,000 rare cherry blossoms are planted on the farm covering an area of more than 24,000 acres.
In this sea of pink flowers, there is also a tea field hidden in the middle. Stroll around the farm and immerse yourself in the fragrance of tea and flowers. With a 1.5 hour drive you can also visit the famous Huangguoshu Waterfalls.
Rape blossoms – Wuyuan County, Jiangxi province
If you are planning to visit the Yellow Mountain we highly recommend adding Wuyuan to your itinerary! March and April are the two most beautiful months in Wuyuan all year round. Chinese people have called this place“the most picturesque village of China”.
Here you can find well-protected ancient villages of the Ming and Qing Dynasties as well as the pastoral landscape in Jiangwan ancient town. By contrast, The Likeng tourist area is famous for its bridges, rivers and cottages embraced by mountains and splendid scenery.
Pear blossom – Jinchuan County, Sichuan
Every year from mid-March to the end of April, in Jinchuan, western Sichuan, thousands of pear trees bloom on the two sides of the Da Du River with distinctive Tibetan villages which are cuddled by massive pear blossoms.
You have to try the honey from pear blossoms with a very light golden color and a mild floral flavor. Besides, take the chance to get a photo of wearing Tibetan clothes under the pear trees!
Rape blossoms – Yangshuo County, Guangxi
Your trip to Yangshuo in Spring will surely be different compared to other seasons! On the banks of the Li River, the golden rape blossoms melt into the lush green mountains while you are riding a bamboo raft, the scenery along the way will be more fascinating than ever!
