Yunnan is one of the biggest provinces in China and there are numerous attractions spread throughout the colorful landscape.

Lijiang Old Town

Lijiang is one of the two ancient cities in Yunnan, listed in the world cultural heritage in China. An untouched fairyland on earth where you will unconsciously stop for a while to breath in its fresh air, swim in the pristine waters, gaze at the magnificent snow mountains, and admire the wonderful landscapes. It’s a must-visit place not only for its history of over 800 years but also for the chance of being able to meet the friendly groups of ethnic minority people who have created this rich antique culture.

 

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

This especially becomes a paradise for skiers and snowboarders in winter. However, the 13 peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain offer different types of glaciers and eye-catching sceneries in all seasons. You can enjoy both the beauty of the plateau and the wonder of Glacier Park via a cable car while it magnificently stands out like a silver dragon amidst the sea of clouds. The highest snow mountain in the north, with several picturesque park areas, is as well a wild paradise for rare plants and animals and a blessed site among the local Naxi people.

 

Lugu Lake

A serene lake nestled between the border of the Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, embraced in green mountains. Unlike any blue color you have seen before, this peaceful mirror-like lake remains uncontaminated with crystal-clear water under the appealing blue sky. It is a plateau lake, which attracts a large number of tourists for its fascinating natural scenery and specific stories of Mosuo people. You can praise this Pearl of the Plateau, called by the local people for its purity, by getting in a Canoe or a walk in the countryside.

 

 

Tiger Leaping Gorge

One of the deepest gorges in the world and very popular among hiking and trekking lovers. It is one of the greatest geological wonders in Asia to take an adventurous hike. When you travel to Lijiang, Tiger Leaping Gorge shouldn’t be missed as it lies between Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain, which is 60 KMs away from the city (Lijiang).  It’s naturally separated into 3 sections as upper, middle and lower. According to an ancient legend, a tiger has used this gorge to jump across the river to go to the other side, and that is how it got its name.
